A Time of Relief | To the Church + A FREE Download

For as long as I can remember the enemy has always buffeted me with anxiety and overwhelm. As I’ve grown in my walk with Christ the Lord has taught me how to war and apply His word to moments when my own ambition would work against me, causing me to panic.

A significant lesson I’ve learned in my moments of overwhelm is that God does NOT move in angst. That means no matter how hard I cried and screamed, no matter how much I worried, no matter how scared and anxious I became God would not move any faster to answer me. Once I calmed down, assessed the situation and sought His Word, then and only then did He begin to move and instruct me on what to do.

Too often we forget that God is omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent. He is the almighty and all powerful God that is aware of all things at all times.

During this time of global upheaval surrounding the Corona Virus, it is now that we seriously consider the impending government mandated quarantine for all. Typically under these circumstances my emotions would have been in an uproar and I’d be right on the brink of a full on panic attack. However this time I have found myself at a new level of calm, assurance and relief as I am reminded of Israel during the plagues of Egypt.

As Moses petitioned for Pharaoh to let the children of Israel go the Egyptians suffered the fate of several disastrous plagues. According to scripture, while these plagues were destroying Egypt the children of Israel lived free from them all.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me. Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are. And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the Lord in the midst of the earth.

Exodus 8:20-22

As we monitor the rapid spread of COVID-19 and submit to the cancelations of school, work and business as usual, I cannot help but to feel a sense of relief for the believer. For some time now I have been sharing with God how fast life is moving and how difficult it seems to do my reasonable service like my private devotional and quiet time with Him as I work to meet all of my demands. The sudden halt of life as usual has presented to me the perfect opportunity to rest in God.

As we prepare to work from home, homeschool our children and spend a lot more time with one another in doors, I would like to suggest to you a new perspective on this global catastrophe. For every time you rushed through your daily prayer and devotion, for all of the times you said you didn’t have the time to study God’s Word, for all of the hours you spend away from your children and loved ones and for all of the times you prayed to witness a might move of God why not look at this as the break you may have been praying for to accomplish all of those things.

Consider Israel, as they were relieved of the rigorous work they were forced to do during the plagues. Consider how their faith grew as they waited on and watched God perform miracles to deliver them from captivity. Consider how they banned together as a nation and were strengthened as one body.

What may be a pandemic to the world can be an opportunity for the people of God to witness a mighty move of God and an opportunity to be the church to a world without hope.

After reading the responses from my post WHAT STEPPING AWAY FROM TRADITIONAL CHURCH TAUGHT ME ABOUT GOD, I recognized that many people had either gone through or were currently going through a similar situation and did not know how to be the church outside of the church building. Now more than ever it is important that whatever state we find ourselves in we must never lose sight of who we are and what God called us to do on this Earth.

I’ve created a FREE guide that will us do just that. How to be The Church is a 29 page guide full of prayers, prompts and practical tips to being the church outside of the building. I pray that you download the guide and use it during this time.

As the body of Christ we do not sorrow as others who have no hope (1 Thess. 4:13) but rather we rise; a city sitting on a hill guiding the world back to Jesus.

My prayers are with you that you remain calm, accept the relief, rest, fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Exodus 14:13-14
