Beyonce Ain’t Talking About Me | To The Church

So I was just strolling in these internet streets, minding my own business, and I came across a bunch of content from church folks debating one of the songs from Beyonce’s new album, Church Girl.

Why the saints are still discussing Beyonce was already a point of aggravation for me but I gave into my curiosity and decided to investigate what all the uproar was all about.

In a nutshell, the song offers the idea of church girls being thots, being loose, and twerkin in the club. Additionally she samples the Clark Sisters (again) from their song Center of Thy Will from the 1981 album You Brought The Sunshine.

Much of the talk and debate of Church Girl was whether or not it was an accurate depiction of actual church girls and/or if it was disrespectful to church girls.

Welp… the Queen of the B3 Hammond organ, Twinkie Clark shared on her Instagram her gratitude to Beyonce for sampling their song leaving any naysayers with nothing to say.

While I have yet to listen to the song (simply because I refuse to open my spirit to whatever spirits she has embedded into her music) I did read the lyrics and decided EMPHATICALLY, that this is nothing I need to be angry about because Beyonce ain’t talking about me!

Unfortunately, there is a real market for this song and there is also some truth to what Beyonce has offered. There are some church girls that are thots, act loose, and twerk in clubs. I don’t say this to belittle anyone because if it had not been for the grace of God I might have been one of them

Additionally, an album was released earlier this year from Jor’Dan Armstrong (Christian artist) called Church Girls Love R&B that (in a less explicit way) offered some of the same sentiments. The sentiment that church girls ain’t too churchyOr even more importantly, church girls aren’t really committed to God.

I don’t typically comment on current events and I definitely don’t pay any mind to what Beyonce is doing, but I thought this was something important to bring up to you guys because it says a lot about where we are as women of God (talking to my female subscribers) and how people perceive us

If you are a church girl that’s loose, thottin, and twerking in clubs, I pray that you make a decision TODAY to either be all in for God or not. Obviously I pray that you fully surrender and be all in for God, but my point is that the only person you are playing by straddling the fence is yourself. YES, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God but we don’t have to fall.

24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Jude 1:24-25 KJV

If we want to be perceived as virtuous, positive, honorable women of God we have to commit our lives to the only one that can fulfill our heart and souls desires. His way is best because it’s the only one that will keep us.

If you need prayer or some advice on how to draw closer to God because you don’t want to be one of those church girls Beyonce is talking about, feel free to comment below and I’ll be more than happy to provide support and resources for growing closer to God.
