Don’t Call it a Comeback

The year was 2007-ish when I initially launched my blog. It was an act of creative spontaneity and a desire to share my musical journey. As a child I thought of nothing beyond being a gospel singer and a writer. I am not always the best at pausing to be grateful, so I’ll go ahead and take this moment (while I’m thinking about it) to proudly announce that I have become both a published author and a published gospel singer. WOW! Thank you Jesus.

The blog consisted of me reporting on places I was invited to sing, my creative process as I prepared my album, some thoughts and reflections on walking with Christ and from time to time, some lifestyle content which included natural hair and modest fashion posts. As life and music happened, writing took a hit and unbeknownst to me the chord to this lifeline was cut as well.

I realized that writing and singing were more than a childhood desire but rather lifelines. Gifts given by God as a way of slowing down and reconnecting to Him when my world was spinning. I wasn’t gifted with the role of an intercessor that could pray for hours but rather music and writing. That is my lane of connection to my Savior, thus if at any time they are stifled, cut or removed my relationship with God was in jeopardy.

Needless to say, writing is a necessity for me and the need to share those thoughts/ideas/feelings have grown with me as my responsibility as a disciple of Christ has expanded. So, I’m back and very happy to be. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts on marriage (I still can’t believe I’m getting married!), culture, wellness/self-care (as I’ve gotten older this has become a MAJOR priority), this walk with Christ and undoubtedly my musical journey. I am so glad you’ve decided to join me!
